CHDM Technical Team Deployed to Middelburg to Address Water Disruptions
CHDM Technical Team On Site in Middelburg to Address Water Challenges
The Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) has confirmed that its technical team is currently on the ground in parts of Middelburg to investigate and address ongoing water supply challenges affecting several areas of the town.
According to the municipality, the team is working in Nonzame, Lusaka and Midros, following prior arrangements to visit the area this weekend. These areas have experienced inconsistent water supply, while other parts of Middelburg have continued to receive water.
Investigations under way
CHDM said the technical team is conducting detailed investigations to determine the root causes of the disruptions. This includes assessing infrastructure performance, identifying any immediate mechanical or operational glitches, and evaluating broader system challenges that may be affecting supply stability.
The municipality indicated that the intervention is not limited to short-term fixes. Technicians are also expected to propose longer-term solutions aimed at improving the reliability of water provision in the affected areas.
Work expected to continue
CHDM confirmed that the work on site is expected to continue until at least tomorrow as teams work to stabilise the system and restore consistent supply where interruptions have been reported.
Residents have raised concerns in recent days about prolonged water outages in parts of Middelburg, with water supply problems contributing to heightened frustration within the community. The municipality has acknowledged these concerns and says the current intervention forms part of efforts to respond directly to the challenges on the ground.
Water tankers remain in place
In the meantime, water carting continues as planned to support affected households. CHDM said water tankers will remain operational until normal water supply is fully restored.
The municipality has urged residents to use the supplied water sparingly while technical work continues and to report any new or persistent issues through official municipal channels.
CHDM said further updates will be communicated as progress is made and once investigations have been concluded.
