Two cars collide near Engcobo on Valentine’s Day

Engcobo, Eastern Cape – Emergency services responded to a collision involving two vehicles approximately 2km outside Engcobo on the road towards Cofimvaba on 14 February 2026.

The crash, which involved two Volkswagen Polo vehicles, occurred along the busy Engcobo–Cofimvaba route. Authorities confirmed that three people were injured in the incident.

Emergency response on scene

Emergency Medical Services (EMS), South African Police Service members from Engcobo, provisional traffic officials and a tow truck were dispatched to the scene.

The injured were transported from the scene for further medical attention. No fatalities were reported, and there were no entrapments.

Traffic was temporarily affected while emergency personnel cleared the roadway.

The cause of the collision has not yet been confirmed. Motorists travelling in the area are urged to exercise caution.
