Man arrested after deadly Cacadu grocery dispute
A 23-year-old man is expected to appear in the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 22 July, following the death of a 35-year-old man.
The incident happened at Jojweni locality in the Cumakala Administrative Area on Monday at about 12:45.
Police said the two men allegedly became involved in an argument, with each accusing the other of stealing grocery items. The argument escalated and the victim was allegedly stabbed in the chest.
According to police, the suspect then arranged transport to take the injured man to Glen Grey Hospital. The victim was declared dead on arrival.
Police were called to the hospital, where they arrested the suspect. He is being held at the Cacadu Police Station and faces a murder charge.
“The lack of regard for human life is reason for concern. Killing each other over petty issues is the order of the day. Police should work hard and ensure that perpetrators face the full might of the Law,” Chris Hani District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph said.
