Chris Hani District elects new Community Policing Forum leadership

The Chris Hani District has elected a new executive committee for its Community Policing Forum (CPF) for the 2025 to 2030 term following elections held in Komani on Thursday, 2 July.

The elections took place at the district office boardroom in the KSM Building and brought together community representatives and police officials as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between communities and the police in the fight against crime.

Outgoing CPF chairperson Reverend Z. Jim presided over the pre-election proceedings, while former secretary Ms N. Zingithwa presented a report on the challenges faced by the previous committee, including budget constraints, a lack of sponsorship and changes within the committee structure.

Mr Thandisiwe Mxathu was elected as the new chairperson of the district CPF, with Mr Vuyani Ngalo elected as deputy chairperson. Ms Ntombebandla Zingithwa was elected secretary, while Ms Ntombomthandazo Sohamba will serve as deputy secretary and Ms Phozisa Faltein as public relations officer.

Additional members of the committee include Mr Andrew Schoeman, Mr Yanga Waluwalu and Ms Esihle Mzileni.

Speaking on behalf of the district office, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela congratulated the newly elected leadership and encouraged members to work closely with police to improve safety in their communities.

The new chairperson, Mr Mxathu, committed the committee to working hand in hand with SAPS in addressing crime across the district.
