EMS vehicle hits horse on R410 near Komani
A collision involving a vehicle and a horse was reported on the R410 near McKay’s Nek on Sunday evening, with two EMS staff members escaping injury.
The incident happened at about 19:40 on 5 July on the R410, approximately 21.8 kilometres from McKay’s Nek in the direction of Komani.
According to information from emergency services, the vehicle involved was a white Isuzu D-Max double cab used by EMS personnel.
Two EMS vehicles, SAPS and a towing service were dispatched to the scene following the crash.
The two male occupants of the vehicle, both EMS employees, were assessed on scene but were not injured and did not require medical treatment or transport to hospital.
Police attended the incident while recovery operations were carried out at the scene.
Collisions involving livestock and horses continue to be a concern on roads across the Chris Hani District, particularly on rural routes where animals often wander onto roads after dark and visibility is limited for motorists.
