Water Supply Cut in Parts of Komani After Pipe Break in Grey Street

KOMANI — Residents in several parts of Komani are now facing both electricity and water interruptions after an unplanned water supply outage was confirmed on Thursday morning.

According to an official public notice issued by Chris Hani District Municipality, a broken pipe in Grey Street has forced an emergency shutdown of water supply while repair teams attend to the damaged line. Although officials have not confirmed whether nearby excavation or electrical repair work contributed to the break, the disruption comes at a time when some areas had already been reporting unstable electricity supply.

The municipality confirmed that the following areas are affected by the temporary water shutdown:

  • Queen Drive and intersecting streets

  • Grey, Prince Alfred and Tylden Streets

  • Green, Porter and Chalmers Streets

  • Parts of Westbourne Park

Repairs are currently underway, and water supply will be restored once the broken pipe has been fixed. No estimated completion time has been provided.

Electricity Had Returned in Some Streets Last Night

A resident from the affected zone told Komani News that parts of Grey Street received electricity from around 9pm on Wednesday, though some surrounding streets reportedly remained without power. This aligns with several community reports indicating inconsistent restoration across the area.

The latest water outage now adds further strain for households already navigating partial electrical supply issues.
