Second kudu crash on N6 near Komani raises fresh safety concerns
Komani – A second vehicle collision involving a kudu has been reported on the N6 near Komani, just days after a similar incident highlighted the risks motorists face on this stretch of road.
The latest crash occurred in the early hours of 25 April 2026 at approximately 04:08, when a vehicle collided with a kudu along the N6.
According to emergency services information, the incident involved a single vehicle, a Renault Kwid, which struck the animal.
All occupants escape serious injury
Four occupants were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the crash, including two males and two females.
All four were assessed on scene and classified as green under emergency triage, indicating no serious injuries.
No patients required ambulance transport, with all occupants reportedly making their way to hospital via private transport.
Scene response and clearance
Emergency services, including SAPS and medical teams, responded to the scene.
No fatalities were reported, and no further medical intervention was required beyond initial assessments.
Second incident in under a week
The crash comes less than a week after a previous kudu-related collision on the same route, which was reported by Komani News on 19 April.
That earlier incident prompted warnings to motorists about the presence of wildlife along the N6, particularly in low-light conditions.
The recurrence of a similar crash in such a short space of time is likely to renew concerns among road users travelling between Komani and surrounding areas.
Ongoing risk for motorists
Motorists travelling along the N6 are often advised to remain alert, especially during early morning and night-time hours when animals are more active and visibility is reduced.
While no serious injuries were recorded in this latest crash, the repeated nature of such incidents highlights the unpredictable risks posed by wildlife on major routes in the region.
