One dead, 13 injured in R410 crash near Cala
A fatal collision on the R410 near Cala Reserve has left one person dead and 13 others injured after two vehicles collided on Friday afternoon.
The crash occurred at approximately 17:25 and involved a Toyota Hilux bakkie and a Toyota Conquest.
Severe damage at scene
Visuals from the scene showed extensive damage to both vehicles. The Toyota Conquest appears heavily crushed, with parts of the vehicle torn open, while the Hilux sustained significant front-end damage.
Debris, including wooden planks and vehicle parts, was scattered across the roadway as emergency teams worked to manage the scene.
Multiple critical injuries
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) confirmed that three adult males were classified as red priority patients, indicating critical injuries.
Nine other patients sustained serious injuries, while one female was treated for minor injuries.
One adult male was declared dead on the scene after being trapped in the wreckage.
Emergency response
Multiple EMS units responded alongside SAPS, traffic officials, forensic services, and towing companies.
All injured patients were transported to Cala Hospital for treatment, while the deceased was taken by forensic services.
The scene was cleared at approximately 20:25.
