Proud moment as Get Ahead College hits 100% pass

Get Ahead College Celebrates Record-Breaking Results in First IEB Matric Exams

Komani, Eastern Cape – Get Ahead College has achieved a significant academic milestone after recording outstanding results in its first-ever Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matric examinations, with the class of 2025 delivering a 100% pass rate.

According to information released by the school, the 2025 matric cohort achieved a record-breaking 60% bachelor’s pass rate, along with a record number of subject distinctions, marking a strong debut for the institution in the internationally benchmarked IEB examination system.

The 2025 matric class was the first group of learners at Get Ahead College to write the IEB matric examinations, following the school’s transition to the IEB curriculum in 2023. The results reflect what the school has described as substantial improvements in several key subjects, alongside consistent overall academic performance.

First IEB Cohort Sets a New Standard

The IEB (Independent Examinations Board) is widely recognised for its rigorous academic standards and international benchmarking. Get Ahead College’s decision to transition to the IEB system in 2023 meant that the class of 2025 navigated a curriculum change while preparing for their final examinations.

Despite these challenges, the school reports that the cohort achieved full pass success, with a majority of learners qualifying for bachelor’s degree studies — an outcome the institution has described as a new benchmark for the college.

Leadership Commends Learners and Community

Head of College, Mr Alan Thompson, expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the matric group, crediting their effort and commitment throughout the academic journey.

“These results symbolise the magic that is possible when talent, good attitude and hard work combine in an atmosphere referenced against absolute excellence,” Thompson said.

He emphasised that the outcomes were not accidental, but the result of sustained focus and cooperation.

“None of this happens by chance. It represents the culmination of a lot of hard work and single-minded focus on the part of students, their teachers and their parents. How blessed we are, how much we have to be thankful for,” he added.

Transition to IEB Acknowledged as Challenging

Head of Academics at Get Ahead College, Mr Nicholas Zata, acknowledged that the move to the IEB curriculum was not without difficulty, particularly during the early stages of implementation.

“The journey has not been easy from 2023 when we became an IEB school — a lot needed to be done for a smooth transition,” Zata said.

He praised the teaching staff for their dedication during the adjustment period, noting their willingness to undergo training and adapt assessment practices to meet IEB requirements.

“I would like to acknowledge the teachers and the commitment they made in getting to know and embrace IEB. I also appreciate the positivity and support they gave to one another, as well as the time spent on training to do assessments. I am so grateful to be part of this amazing team,” he said.

A Milestone for the School

The results mark a notable moment in Get Ahead College’s academic history, particularly as it continues to establish itself within the IEB education framework. The school has indicated that the achievements of the 2025 matric class set a foundation for future cohorts writing the same examinations.

While no comparisons were made with other institutions, the college described the outcomes as a source of pride for learners, educators, and parents alike, highlighting the collective effort behind the academic success.
