Heavy snow hits R58 between Lady Grey and Ekhephini

Motorists travelling on the R58 between Lady Grey and Ekhephini have been urged to exercise caution as heavy snow, mist and wet road conditions affect the route.

In an update issued at 10:00 on Wednesday, July 29, the Joe Gqabi District Municipality Fire and Rescue Services said visibility was poor and the road surface was slippery.

Traffic was reported to be flowing at a medium pace, with no incidents or accidents recorded at the time of the update.

Road users have been advised to switch on their headlights, reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance and remain cautious while travelling through the area.

Motorists should expect conditions to remain hazardous while heavy snow and fog continue along the route.
