Cold Snap Set to Reach Komani This Week

Residents in Komani and surrounding areas can expect pleasant winter weather on Wednesday before a cold and windy change moves into the area later in the day and into Thursday.

Wednesday, 1 July, is forecast to be partly sunny and mild with a maximum temperature of around 22°C. Light north-westerly winds of around 13 km/h are expected during the day, although gusts could reach up to 52 km/h at times.

Cloud cover is expected to increase during the evening, with a chance of light rain overnight. Temperatures will drop sharply to around 7°C, with the colder air becoming more noticeable by Thursday morning.

Thursday, 2 July, will bring significantly cooler conditions, with daytime temperatures expected to reach only 14°C. Strong west-northwesterly winds of around 35 km/h, with gusts of up to 65 km/h, are likely to make conditions feel much colder than the actual temperature.

Overnight temperatures on Thursday are expected to fall to just 2°C, while wind chill could make it feel as cold as -4°C in exposed areas.

The latest weather outlook from the South African Weather Service also shows colder conditions spreading across large parts of the country, with rain expected over sections of the Eastern Cape and snowfall forecast over some higher-lying areas of the Western and Northern Cape.

Residents are advised to dress warmly, secure loose outdoor items ahead of the stronger winds and take extra care on the roads during periods of reduced visibility or wet conditions.
