Level 2 Warning Issued for Severe Thunderstorms in Komani.

KOMANI – The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms expected to affect Komani and surrounding areas on Sunday, 11 October 2026.

The warning is valid from 12:00 until 21:59, with excessive lightning, hail and strong winds expected in parts of the Eastern Cape.

Affected areas include Komani, Tarkastad, Whittlesea, Graaff-Reinet, Adelaide and several other towns.

According to SAWS, the thunderstorms could cause localised damage to homes and temporary structures, as well as disruptions to electricity and communication services. Livestock and crops may also be affected.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms, remain indoors where possible and secure loose objects. People should also avoid sheltering beneath trees or tall objects.

SAWS has urged residents to monitor weather updates as conditions develop.
