CHDM to Host International Day for Disaster Reduction Event at Ngonyama Primary
In a continued effort to promote a culture of risk awareness and resilience within local communities, the Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) will host a commemorative event for the International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) on 14 October 2025. The event will take place at Ngonyama Primary School, bringing together learners, community members, and disaster management stakeholders.
The International Day for Disaster Reduction is a global initiative aimed at encouraging proactive measures to minimize the impact of disasters and strengthen preparedness at every level of society. Through education, collaboration, and awareness, CHDM seeks to empower communities to better understand and manage risks associated with natural and human-made hazards.
This year’s commemoration will include educational sessions, demonstrations, and interactive discussions designed to inspire safer practices in homes, schools, and workplaces. By hosting the event at a primary school, CHDM emphasizes the importance of starting disaster awareness and safety education at an early age.
Community members are encouraged to attend and participate in the activities.
