It may be cricket season, but before we turn our attention fully to the crease, it’s worth taking a moment to celebrate one of Queens Junior’s proudest rugby achievements — a season that will be remembered for years to come.

Under the steady leadership of Coach Lungisani Dube, the Queens Junior U13A rugby team completed an unbeaten 2025 season, displaying not just skill and talent, but also discipline, heart, and an unshakable Queenian spirit.

Over thirteen matches, the team amassed an incredible 587 points while conceding only 118. That’s an average of 45 points scored per game, with opponents kept to fewer than 10. These numbers tell a story of dominance and balance — fierce attacking play matched by rock-solid defence — all hallmarks of a well-coached and united team.

Year after year, the teams under his guidance deliver remarkable results, often standing out as some of the most competitive and well-drilled sides in their age group. Parents, peers, and past players all speak of his calm approach, sharp rugby mind, and his ability to bring out the best in every boy he coaches.

“Coach Dube’s teams always shine,” has become a familiar refrain at Queens Junior. His consistency is no coincidence — it’s the result of dedication, patience, and an enduring love for the game and the players he mentors.

A Farewell to Chaddie — A Mascot and a Memory

This season also marked a heartfelt moment for the school, as Queens Junior gathered to celebrate the official retirement of their beloved U13A mascot, Chaddie.

Created in memory of Chad de Bruin, Chaddie has been a symbol of courage, unity, and school spirit since 2017. After the team’s unforgettable unbeaten 2025 season, Chaddie was retired with pride and handed over to Chad’s family — where his story continues with love and honour.
