Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has acquired two new refuse trucks in an effort to improve waste collection services across its towns.
The vehicles were officially handed over by Executive Mayor Cllr Madoda Papiyana on Thursday, 22 October 2026.
According to the municipality, the additional trucks will strengthen its refuse removal capacity and help ensure better adherence to waste collection schedules.
“As we said in the beginning of our term, our main focus is the improvement of basic service delivery,” said Papiyana during the handover.
The municipality also introduced a new vehicle for its Building Control unit, which will be used across municipal towns to monitor compliance with building by-laws.
While the new vehicles are expected to improve service delivery, their effectiveness will depend on consistent deployment and maintenance.
The municipality has reiterated its commitment to improving basic services for residents.
