Two Arrested in Dutywa Drug Bust as Crackdown Intensifies

Dutywa, Eastern Cape – Law enforcement authorities in the Mbhashe Local Municipality have intensified efforts to combat drug-related crime, leading to the arrest of two suspects during a targeted operation in Dutywa.

The suspects, aged 25 and 42, were arrested at their respective residential premises after officers uncovered a range of illegal substances and suspected drug-dealing equipment.

Drugs and Cash Seized

According to authorities, the operation resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs, including:

63 full Boss Mandrax tablets

5 half Boss Mandrax tablets

5 quarter Boss Mandrax tablets

9 straws of Tik

13 sachets of Tik

2 sachets of dagga

1 sachet of crystal meth

2 weighing scales

In addition to the drugs, officers also confiscated R2,145 in cash, believed to be linked to illegal drug activities.

Suspects in Custody

Both suspects were taken into custody and are currently being held at the Dutywa Police Station. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding court appearances or formal charges, which are expected to follow as investigations continue.

Mbhashe Local Municipality Law Enforcement reaffirmed its commitment to tackling drug-related crime, stating that operations such as these form part of broader efforts to improve community safety.
