Just In: Residents and Workers Protest at Chris Hani Municipality Offices

Tensions flared today at the Chris Hani District Municipality offices in Komani as residents and municipal workers returned to demand answers. The protest comes after claims of months of unpaid salaries for security guards contracted to the municipality and ongoing concerns over transparency and financial management.

Police and security officers were called to maintain order as residents raised questions about 18 months of payments and the use of taxpayer funds. Workers and residents insisted on accountability from municipal officials, highlighting the ongoing challenges with contractor payments and municipal services.

The municipality has acknowledged the concerns and stated that discussions with contractors are ongoing. No injuries have been reported, but the situation remains tense inside the offices.

This is a developing story. Komani News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
