Emalahleni Mayor Praises Schools After Amazing Matric Results!

Emalahleni Matrics Celebrate Exceptional 2025 Results

Emalahleni, Eastern Cape – The Emalahleni Local Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Education’s Circuit Management Centre (CMC), recently celebrated the outstanding 2025 matric results achieved by schools in the area.

Festivities began with a vibrant vehicle convoy through the town of Cacadu (Lady Frere), spreading joy and highlighting the community’s pride in the learners’ achievements. The event concluded at the Municipal Council Chamber, where Ms Nolundi Ngetu, Circuit Head, addressed attendees and commended the collective efforts that contributed to an impressive overall pass rate of 93.7% for the year.

Ms Ngetu acknowledged the crucial role of the Municipality in improving learning environments, which has supported learners in achieving better outcomes. She also noted the remarkable accomplishment of four schools within the circuit achieving a 100% pass rate, with each term showing progressive improvement that culminated in the final year results.

The meeting also included a moment of reflection to honour the late Mr Cele, Principal of Freemantle Boys High School, who passed away during the year. Heads were bowed in respect and remembrance.

In her address, Mayor Councillor Nontombizanele Zanele Koni highlighted plans for the upcoming Annual Matric Results Awards, which will recognise top-performing schools and teachers. The Mayor also mentioned future initiatives aimed at providing further support and resources to learners and schools across the municipality.

The 2025 results are seen as a strong testament to the dedication of educators, learners, and the Emalahleni community as a whole.
