Two Killed in New Year’s Day Head-On Collision on N2 Near Qonce

QONCE, Eastern Cape – Two people lost their lives and another sustained serious injuries following a head-on collision involving two sedans on the N2 between East London and Qonce in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 04h00 near the Eskom power station, a section of the N2 that has previously been identified as a high-risk stretch of road, particularly during peak holiday travel periods.

Fatalities Declared at the Scene

Emergency services responded to the scene shortly after the collision was reported. On arrival, paramedics found that two occupants had already succumbed to their injuries. Both were declared dead at the scene.
