Middelburg Selected for National Revitalisation Programme
Middelburg is set to receive a facelift through a small-town revitalisation initiative aimed at improving the town’s appearance and boosting community pride.
The project forms part of the Small Town Revitalisation Programme, which is funded by LottoLand and implemented in partnership with the Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality, the Middelburg Tourism Committee and local community members.
According to the municipality, the programme includes cleaning, painting and restoring public spaces to make Middelburg a more attractive and welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike.
Municipal officials said Middelburg had been selected as one of a number of small towns across South Africa to benefit from the initiative.
The municipality described the project as an opportunity to breathe new life into the town while encouraging residents to take pride in their surroundings.
Community members have joined hands with local stakeholders to support the revitalisation efforts, which are expected to enhance the town’s visual appeal and contribute to local tourism and economic activity.
Municipal leaders said the programme demonstrates what can be achieved when government, businesses and communities work together towards a common goal of improving public spaces and creating a more inviting environment for all.
