Education Department takes anti-GBV campaign to Hobie Beach.

The Eastern Cape Department of Education will host an Anti-Pens Down Gospel Concert and Anti-GBV and Femicide Campaign at Hobie Beach on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, from 12:00.

The campaign aims to encourage learners to celebrate the end of exams responsibly while also raising awareness about Gender-Based Violence and Femicide.

Learners are being urged to avoid violence, abuse, substance abuse, sexual exploitation and other risky behaviour during pens-down celebrations.

The department is also encouraging young people to respect themselves and others, protect one another and speak up when they witness or experience abuse.

The campaign promotes the message that learners can celebrate their achievements without putting their safety, dignity or future at risk.
