Walter Sisulu municipality schedules electricity outage for testing.

Walter Sisulu Local Municipality has announced a scheduled electricity outage for Thursday, 8 October 2026, from 07:00 to 12:00.

According to the municipality, the outage will affect the newly installed Transformer 2 Incomer Feeder and will be carried out for testing and maintenance purposes.

The municipality said no customers are expected to be affected by the planned work.

The maintenance follows replacement and repair work carried out on newly installed equipment at the substation. The municipality said the work forms part of efforts to maintain the operational efficiency of its electrical infrastructure and address potential problems before they escalate.

If the work cannot proceed as planned due to adverse conditions, it will be rescheduled to Friday, 9 October, during the same hours.

Residents have also been advised to treat all electrical installations as live, as electricity supply may resume at any time during the outage.
