Learners at Jongimishini Primary School in Tsomo are set to benefit from a newly built school that will officially be handed over by Eastern Cape Education MEC Fundile Gade on Tuesday, 23 June.

The new facility forms part of the Eastern Cape Department of Education’s efforts to replace inadequate infrastructure and provide learners with a safer and more suitable environment for teaching and learning.

For many rural communities, access to proper school infrastructure remains a challenge, with ageing buildings and unsuitable facilities often affecting the learning experience. The department says the construction of the new school is aimed at addressing those challenges and creating conditions that support quality education.

The official handover will take place at Jongimishini Primary School in the Chris Hani East Education District.

The project represents another investment in education infrastructure in the Eastern Cape, with the department continuing its programme of replacing schools that no longer meet the needs of learners and educators.
