Residents and businesses in Dordrecht have been advised that a contractor is currently on site working to correct a fault on underground electrical cables that has resulted in ongoing power outages across parts of the town.

According to a public notice issued by the office of the Municipal Manager on Tuesday, 30 December 2025, the electrical fault was first reported on 27 December 2025 and has continued to affect electricity supply in the Dordrecht town area. Municipal officials confirmed that the fault involves underground cables, which can take longer to locate and repair due to the complexity of the infrastructure involved.

The municipality has confirmed that a contractor is on site and actively attending to the faulty electrical cable. Work is currently underway to identify and correct the fault in order to restore electricity supply as safely and efficiently as possible.

Safety Warning to Residents and Businesses

As a safety precaution, customers in affected areas are being urged to treat electricity with care. The municipality has specifically requested that all electrical appliances be disconnected while repair work is ongoing. This is to prevent potential damage to appliances or safety risks when power is restored.

Municipal authorities have emphasised that sudden power surges can occur during fault repairs and restoration, which may pose a risk if appliances are left plugged in.
