Bail Application Expected for One Accused in Alleged Rape of 11-Year-Old Boy in East London
EAST LONDON, Eastern Cape — One of the two women arrested in connection with the alleged rape of an 11-year-old boy in East London is expected to apply for bail at the East London Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 27 January 2026.
The two accused, Ziphozethu Faltein and Sisipho Tikane, were arrested following allegations that a minor was sexually assaulted. According to information before the court, the alleged offence is said to have taken place at one of the accused’s residences after the child was allegedly taken from his home.
Bail Proceedings Set for Tuesday
Court officials confirmed that one of the accused will formally submit a bail application on Tuesday. The State is expected to outline its position during the proceedings, taking into account the seriousness of the charges and the fact that the complainant is a minor.
The second accused is also expected to appear as the matter continues through the legal process.
Child’s Identity Protected
In line with South African law, the identity of the child may not be disclosed. Authorities have indicated that relevant child protection services are involved to ensure the wellbeing and support of the minor.
