Rain and Storm Conditions in the Area

The accident occurred during a period of storm activity in parts of the region. Rain had been reported in and around the area on Saturday afternoon, and wet road conditions may have been a contributing factor. However, the exact cause of the collision has not yet been officially confirmed.

The R61 is a key regional route connecting communities between Ngcobo and Cofimvaba and is frequently used by both private motorists and public transport vehicles. During adverse weather conditions, visibility and road grip can be affected, increasing the risk of accidents.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when travelling in rainy conditions, particularly along rural stretches of road where surface water and reduced visibility may pose additional hazards.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are expected to continue.
