Ngcobo Roads Blocked as Protest Disrupts Traffic

Motorists travelling to and from Ngcobo are urged to avoid the R61 following a protest currently under way in the area.

The Eastern Cape Department of Transport said protesters have barricaded several roads leading into the town, disrupting traffic on key routes. The affected roads include the R61 towards Cofimvaba, the R408 towards Dutywa and the R58 towards Elliot.

Motorists planning to travel through the area are advised not to approach the blocked routes and to make use of alternative roads where possible. The department has recommended the N2 route between Mthatha and Tsolo Junction as an alternative for road users needing to bypass the affected area.

Traffic officers have been deployed to assist motorists, manage traffic and direct vehicles away from the road blockades.

Road users are urged to remain patient, allow extra travelling time and follow instructions from traffic officials. The situation may change, and motorists should stay alert for further updates before travelling.
