Ngcobo Police Arrest Two Suspects in Separate Drug and Firearm Cases

Ngcobo, Eastern Cape – Ngcobo SAPS officers have arrested two men in separate operations, one of whom was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, police confirmed on Monday.

Allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm

In the first incident, Ngcobo Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) officers acted on information regarding a community member allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm and involved in drug dealing. Police went to an address at Maxeleqwini Shacks in Ngcobo Town, where they met a 32-year-old man. The individual granted permission for a search, during which officers found ten straws containing Tik in his right pocket and a shotgun with a brown handle and silver fore-end concealed at his waist. Cash of R50 was also seized. The suspect was arrested on the spot.

Discovered seventeen Tik straws in a transparent money bag

In an unrelated operation, a 27-year-old man was arrested at a car wash along Elliot Road. Police searched him with his consent and discovered seventeen Tik straws in a transparent money bag, four full Boss tablets, and R100 in cash. The suspect allegedly confessed to dealing drugs and was immediately taken into custody. Both suspects are expected to appear before the Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court soon.

Major General Rudolph Adolph, District Commissioner, praised the Ngcobo police for their proactive approach in removing illegal firearms from the community and reiterated the department’s commitment to fighting drug-related crime.
