A young boy from Jojweni in Cacadu (Lady Frere), Eastern Cape, is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital after allegedly being burned during an assault earlier this month.

According to information provided to Komani News, the incident allegedly occurred in early January 2026 and involved a former teacher who had also served as a school principal in the area.

The child is said to have sustained serious burn injuries and has been in hospital since 4 January 2026.

Case Reported to Police

The child’s family told Komani News that the matter was reported to Glen Grey Police Station, where they believe a case was opened on 6 January 2026.

However, the family said they were not provided with a case number and have not received feedback regarding the progress of the case.

The family further alleged that the same individual had previously assaulted the child.
