ANC Chris Hani Region Welcomes Baxolise Mali’s Election to NEHAWU Leadership
The ANC in the Chris Hani Region has congratulated Baxolise Mali on his election as the 2nd Deputy General Secretary of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU).
Mali, who hails from Ward 23 in the Enoch Mgijima sub-region, was elected to the national leadership position during NEHAWU’s 13th National Congress held at the Birchwood Hotel from 26 to 29 June 2026.
According to the ANC Chris Hani Region, Mali has served as NEHAWU Western Cape Provincial Secretary since 2021, where he has been involved in advancing workers’ rights and labour issues.
The regional ANC described his election as recognition of his leadership, dedication and contribution to the labour movement over a number of years.
The organisation also expressed pride that a leader with roots in the Chris Hani District has risen to occupy a senior position within one of the country’s largest trade unions.
The ANC further said it was confident that Mali would continue serving workers with integrity while contributing to strengthening the alliance and promoting the interests of the working class.
The statement was issued on Tuesday by the ANC Chris Hani Region through its Office of the Regional Secretary.
