Nonesi Shopping Centre Undergoes Major Renovation

KOMANI – The parking area in front of the Nonesi Shopping Centre (also known as Nonesi Mall) in Komani is currently a hive of activity, as the mall undergoes significant construction and renovation work. The visible development has sparked considerable excitement and anticipation among local residents regarding the new retail offerings coming to the area.

The construction is focused squarely on the main parking area in front of the shopping centre. While the centre’s owners, Vukile Property Fund, have remained silent on the exact nature of the development, sources close to the project strongly indicate two major national retailers are set to take up the new space.

Highly Anticipated Tenants

According to multiple reports, the substantial new structures being erected are intended for a major pharmacy and a new premium grocery store:

  • Dis-Chem Pharmacy: Sources indicate that a large, fully kitted-out Dis-Chem store is being constructed, which would be a significant draw for health, beauty, and wellness shoppers in Komani.

  • Food Lovers Market: Other sources suggest the development will include a Food Lovers Market, promising an enhanced, comprehensive grocery and fresh produce offering for the area, known for its vibrant atmosphere and specialty goods.

The size of the current construction project clearly suggests a major retail addition that will significantly broaden Nonesi’s appeal.

Owners and Municipality Remain Tight-Lipped

Komani News attempted to reach out to Vukile Property Fund, the owners of Nonesi Shopping Centre, for an official statement and confirmation on the tenants for the new section. However, they have not yet responded to the query.

Furthermore, a review of recent Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality planning documents confirms that formal activity is underway on Erf 13386 Komani Nonesi Mall but does not publicly name the incoming tenants. This lack of official disclosure from both the mall owners and the local authority means residents and local media must rely on unconfirmed, though consistent, reports.

Anticipated Completion

While no confirmed completion date has been officially released, sources indicate that the construction area is expected to be finished and operational early in the new year. This timeline suggests a busy period for the construction teams and an exciting start to the new year for Komani shoppers.

The Nonesi Shopping Centre, a major retail hub in the region, is clearly positioning itself for growth. The community eagerly awaits official word on the development that promises to significantly enhance the shopping experience for residents with the arrival of these major retailers.
