Six Injured After Toyota Hilux Overturns on R410
Six people were injured after a Toyota Hilux overturned near the Machibini turn-off in the Nonesi area outside Komani on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 15:30 following reports of a vehicle rollover along the R410-1 route near the Machibini turn-off.
According to the report, a white Toyota Hilux overturned under circumstances that have not yet been confirmed. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and found six occupants requiring medical assessment and treatment.
Two female patients were classified as yellow triage patients, indicating moderate injuries requiring medical attention, while four other occupants, including the driver, sustained minor injuries and were classified as green triage patients.
Authorities confirmed that there were no entrapments at the scene, allowing emergency crews to access the injured occupants without the need for specialised rescue operations.
Five of the injured patients were transported to Frontier Hospital by EMS ambulance for further medical treatment and observation. Details regarding the extent of the injuries have not yet been released.
Several emergency response resources were deployed to the scene, including EMS vehicles, rescue personnel and towing services. A towing truck was later brought in to recover the damaged vehicle from the roadside after emergency operations had been completed.
The incident caused concern among motorists travelling through the area, with emergency officials working to secure the scene and assist the injured patients before clearing the roadway.
The exact cause of the rollover remains unknown at this stage, and no further details have been released regarding possible contributing factors.
Motorists travelling along routes in and around Komani have been urged to remain cautious on the roads and to reduce speed, particularly when travelling on rural routes where sudden hazards and loss of vehicle control can occur unexpectedly.
Authorities confirmed that the scene was later declared clear following the completion of emergency operations.
