Unplanned water outage hits parts of Komani after burst pipe
Residents in several parts of Komani are facing an unplanned water supply interruption following a burst pipe in Douglas Street.
In a public notice issued on 25 February 2026, the Chris Hani District Municipality confirmed that water supply has been closed at the low-level reservoir to allow for urgent repairs.
Areas affected
According to the municipality, the following areas are currently affected:

Queen Drive and intersecting streets

Grey, Prince Alfred and Tylden Streets

Green, Porter and Chalmers Streets

Parts of Westbourne Park
Residents in these areas may experience low pressure or a complete loss of water supply while repair work is underway.
Repairs underway
Municipal Manager Gcobani Mashiyi said the interruption is due to a burst pipe in Douglas Street and that the shutdown of the low-level reservoir is necessary to carry out repairs safely and effectively.
The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience caused and has urged residents to be patient while technical teams work to restore supply as soon as possible.
