Hofmeyr Clean-Up Operation Targets Streets and Illegal Dumping Sites.
Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) says a two-day cleaning operation has been completed in Hofmeyr as part of efforts to improve cleanliness and address illegal dumping in the town.
According to the municipality, machinery and personnel were deployed to different areas during the operation, with teams focusing on cleaning streets and clearing sites where illegal dumping had taken place.
The municipality said a ditch that had been excavated by community members was also cleaned and filled. The intervention was intended to prevent the area from continuing to be used as an illegal dumping site.
Another development highlighted by EMLM was the return of refuse collection machinery to service. The municipality said equipment that had previously broken down had been repaired and was now operational again.
The availability of the machinery is expected to assist with ongoing refuse collection in Hofmeyr following the clean-up operation.
EMLM thanked Hofmeyr residents for their cooperation during the two-day programme.
The municipality also appealed to residents to help maintain the work carried out during the operation by disposing of waste responsibly and avoiding illegal dumping.
The clean-up forms part of the municipality’s service delivery activities aimed at addressing waste management and maintaining public spaces within its jurisdiction.
