Enoch Mgijima Deploys Six New Traffic Patrol Vehicles.
Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) has added six new traffic patrol vehicles to its fleet as part of efforts to strengthen traffic law enforcement and road safety across the municipality.
The vehicles were officially handed over to the municipality’s Traffic Department by Executive Mayor Cllr Madoda Papiyana on Wednesday, 1 October 2026.
According to the municipality, the six vehicles will be used exclusively for traffic control, law enforcement and road safety operations across its towns and surrounding areas.
The municipality said the additional vehicles are expected to increase patrols and monitoring, improve response times and strengthen the visibility of traffic officers in areas including Komani, Whittlesea and Sada.
The vehicles will also be used during operations aimed at enforcing road traffic laws and improving safety for motorists, commuters, pedestrians and schools.
The addition to the municipal fleet follows the recent appointment of six experienced traffic officers who will support traffic operations across Enoch Mgijima.
Papiyana said the municipality wanted to strengthen the consistent enforcement of laws.
“I want this Municipality to be renowned for strict enforcement of laws. There must be consistent law and order,” Papiyana said.
He welcomed the appointment of the six traffic officers and said the combination of additional personnel and resources demonstrated the municipality’s commitment to enforcement.
“Through these noble efforts, we will save lives, assets and act on law breakers,” he said.
EMLM said the six patrol vehicles were already deployed and operational from 1 October.
The municipality said the investment was intended to reduce road accidents through increased patrols, strengthen enforcement and promote safer travel across the municipal area.
