Drug dealer busted with Tik and dagga haul outside Komani
Suspect arrested for alleged drug dealing in Ntabethemba
A 31-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Tarkastad Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 January 2026, following his arrest on allegations of dealing in drugs, possession of drugs, and possession of an imitation firearm.
The arrest was made by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) stationed at Ntabethemba during routine Safer Festive Season Operations conducted in the area.
Police act on information during patrols
According to a media statement issued by the Office of the Provincial Commissioner in the Eastern Cape, police were conducting patrols on Sunday, 25 January 2026, in the Mitford Administration Area when they received information about a person allegedly dealing in drugs from his homestead.
Members proceeded to the identified homestead to follow up on the information received.
Upon arrival, police met the owner of the property and requested permission to conduct a search of the premises.
Drugs and imitation firearm discovered
During the search, police uncovered various illegal substances, including:

11 small bompies of Tik
-
8 big bompies of Tik, with a combined weight of 4.5 grams

Loose dagga
-
7 bompies of dagga, weighing 321.5 grams
An imitation firearm (toy gun) was also found on the premises.
All the drugs were seized, with SAPS estimating the street value of the confiscated substances at more than R13,400.
Arrest made at the scene
The suspect was arrested on the spot and detained. Police confirmed that he is due to make his first court appearance on Monday, 26 January 2026, at the Tarkastad Magistrate’s Court.
The investigation remains ongoing.
District Commissioner commends police members
The District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph, commended the police members involved in the operation for their efforts in addressing drug-related crime.
According to the media statement, the District Commissioner highlighted that drugs are a major contributor to the commission of serious crimes.

SAPS has reiterated the importance of community cooperation in the fight against drug-related crime. Information received from the public continues to play a critical role in enabling police to respond effectively and carry out targeted operations.
