Traffic flow in parts of Komani is expected to improve after the local municipality confirmed that several faulty traffic lights have been repaired following recent disruptions.

According to the municipality, traffic signals at key intersections — including the Boxer/Spargs intersection, the High Q intersection, and the Madeira Park/Horizon View intersection — are now back in operation.

The repairs were carried out with the assistance of an external contractor, brought in to address the technical faults and restore functionality as quickly as possible.

The municipality said the traffic lights had been out of order due to a combination of road accidents, theft, and vandalism. These incidents left motorists navigating busy intersections without signal control, raising safety concerns for both drivers and pedestrians.

With the repairs now completed, normal traffic regulation has resumed at the affected intersections. Motorists are still urged to remain cautious, particularly as some infrastructure may remain vulnerable to further damage.

Damage to public infrastructure, including traffic systems, continues to place strain on municipal resources and can lead to disruptions in essential services. Authorities have repeatedly raised concerns about vandalism and theft impacting service delivery across the area.

Residents are encouraged to report any damaged or non-functioning traffic lights to the municipality to ensure timely repairs and to help maintain road safety.

The municipality has not indicated whether additional measures will be introduced to protect traffic infrastructure from future incidents.
