Unplanned Water Interruption Affects Several Areas in Komani
KOMANI – 25 January 2026 — Residents in several parts of Komani are experiencing an unplanned water supply interruption following a technical fault at the Komani Water Treatment Works.
According to the Chris Hani District Municipality, the disruption was caused by a power phase lock at the water treatment facility. This occurred after a planned power outage implemented by the local municipality, which affected operations at the plant.
Areas Affected
The following areas have been impacted by the interruption:

PRD Camp and Westbourne Park

Southbourne, Komani Park and New Rest
Municipal officials have urged residents in these areas to use water sparingly while efforts are underway to stabilise the system and restore normal supply.
Municipality Apologises for Disruption
The Chris Hani District Municipality has apologised for the inconvenience caused and says technical teams are attending to the matter.

The notice was issued by Gcobani Mashiyi, Municipal Manager of the Chris Hani District Municipality, who reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to service delivery.
