Tsomo, Eastern Cape – 29 January 2026: The African National Congress (ANC) Chris Hani Region in the Eastern Cape marked its 114th anniversary with a Cake Cutting Ceremony at Gobinamba Senior Secondary School in Tsomo today.
Led by the Branch Executive Committee, including Branch Chairperson Nosizwe Mtwa and Secretary Mvusi Mrwetyana, the celebration was a mix of festivity and recognition.
As part of the programme, the ANC branch held an Awards Ceremony to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of the school’s teachers. The awards aimed to encourage continued excellence in education and community development.
The event also celebrated the achievements of a promising young learner, recently selected for upcoming soccer trials in Italy in February 2026, highlighting the importance of nurturing talent and providing opportunities for youth in sports.
Mtwa expressed pride in both the educators and students, emphasising the ANC’s commitment to supporting communities, schools, and young talent. “Celebrating our history goes hand in hand with uplifting those who are shaping the future,” she said.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of a commemorative cake, symbolising unity and growth.
