EFF Announces New Subregional Leadership for Enoch Mgijima

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has announced its newly elected leadership for the Enoch Mgijima Subregion, following the party’s organisational restructuring decision taken at its 3rd National People’s Assembly (NPA).

The new subregional leadership was officially announced on 14 December 2025, with Mandilakhe Matsolo elected as Chairperson, Andisiwe Ngonyama as Secretary, and Ayanda Tabata as Treasurer.

Shift to Subregional Structure

The formation of the Enoch Mgijima Subregion leadership comes after the EFF resolved at its 3rd NPA to dissolve all regional structures and replace them with subregions. According to the organisation, this move aims to bring the party closer to communities at grassroots level and improve direct engagement with residents.

The newly elected leadership will oversee EFF operations across the Enoch Mgijima area, which includes Komani and surrounding towns and rural communities.

Leadership Mandate and Community Focus

The new subregional command team has stated that its core mission is to strengthen the organisation’s presence in the area while continuing to represent marginalised communities.

The leadership has emphasised its intention to grow EFF structures within the subregion and remain active in addressing local socio-economic challenges affecting residents in Enoch Mgijima.

Planned Back-to-School Programme

As part of its immediate community outreach plans, the EFF Enoch Mgijima Subregion has announced a back-to-school drive scheduled for January 2026.

The initiative will focus on donating school uniforms and sanitary towels to selected schools across the subregion. The programme is aimed at supporting learners from disadvantaged backgrounds as schools reopen for the new academic year.

The leadership has indicated that further details regarding beneficiary schools and dates will be communicated in due course.

Political Activity in Enoch Mgijima

The announcement marks the beginning of formal political activity under the new EFF subregional structure in Enoch Mgijima. Political analysts note that the EFF’s decision to restructure nationally could influence how parties mobilise support ahead of future local government and national elections.
