SAPS Vehicle Involved in Collision on R61 Near Qamata

A motor vehicle accident involving a South African Police Service (SAPS) vehicle and a private car was reported on Monday evening on the R61 near Qamata, on the route towards Cofimvaba.

The incident occurred at approximately 18:15 on 22 December 2025, along a section of the R61 frequently used by motorists travelling between Komani, Qamata and Cofimvaba.

Initial information indicates that the collision was a side-swap crash involving a SAPS van and a Toyota passenger vehicle. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene to manage the incident and assist those involved.

Emergency Medical Services conducted on-site assessments and transported several occupants to Cofimvaba Hospital for further medical evaluation. No fatalities have been reported at this stage.
