Tsomo Drug Bust Leads to Arrest, Court Appearance Set

A police operation in Tsomo has resulted in the arrest of a suspect following information received about alleged drug dealing in the area, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The incident forms part of Safer Easter Holiday operations conducted across the Chris Hani District on 2 April 2026.

Tip-off leads to police action

SAPS members in Tsomo received a tip-off about an individual allegedly selling drugs. Police acted on the information and conducted an operation in response.

During the operation, officers confiscated a variety of drugs. These included tik, mandrax and dagga.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is R2,900.

Cash also confiscated

In addition to the drugs, police reported that R800 in cash was also seized.

According to SAPS, the cash is believed to be proceeds accumulated from the alleged criminal activities.

Suspect arrested

A suspect was arrested during the operation. Police have not released further details about the individual at this stage.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Tsomo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

The individual is expected to face charges related to dealing in drugs.

Part of Easter safety operations

The arrest took place on the same day that roadblocks and other safety operations were conducted across the Chris Hani District as part of the Easter period enforcement campaign.

SAPS has indicated that these operations include crime prevention and enforcement activities in various areas across the district.
