South Africans Face R3 Fuel Price Increase in October
South African motorists could face a major fuel price increase in October, with the latest unaudited estimates pointing to increases of more than R3 per litre.
Estimated adjustments as of 29 September 2026 indicate that 95 unleaded petrol could increase by around R3.12 per litre, while 50ppm diesel is tracking towards an increase of approximately R3.13 per litre. Paraffin could increase by about R3.38 per litre.
The changes are expected to take effect on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.
The projections come amid continued volatility in global markets, with renewed conflict and uncertainty in the Middle East placing significant pressure on crude oil prices.
The increases have not yet been officially confirmed and the figures could still change before the final October fuel prices are announced.
The size of the anticipated increases could also place pressure on fuel supply. Suppliers may ration or allocate available product on a pro-rata basis, using customers’ average historical sales as a benchmark.
If the current estimates hold, motorists, businesses and the transport sector will face significantly higher fuel costs from next week.
Komani News will update the figures once the official October fuel price adjustments are confirmed.
