Why the Hell Are the Boks Playing the All Blacks in America Tonight?
Let’s be honest, no Boks match should be played in the USA unless the Boks are playing the US. Yet here we are. Tonight, Saturday, 12 September 2026, the Springboks and the All Blacks are actually running out at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, USA for a test match at 23:00 SA time.
You just have to scratch your head. What on earth are two proper Southern Hemisphere powerhouses doing playing a massive match in the USA?
Something smells odd here.
The Cash Grab in Baltimore
Dragging the biggest fixture in world rugby over to an NFL stadium feels completely upside down. Rugby is stitched into our DNA back home and across in New Zealand. Taking it to the USA just makes no sense.
Let’s not fool ourselves. The oke in the boardroom doesn’t care about tradition when dollar signs are flashing. With America hosting the World Cup in 2031, World Rugby is desperate to crack the North American market. Dropping the Boks and All Blacks under US lights is a massive cash grab to get the US interested. Money talks louder than rugby passion these days.
How We Got Here
Tonight is the fourth and final Test of this series, and china, it’s been wild:
-
First Test (Ellis Park): All Blacks came out firing on 22 August and took a 33-16 win.
-
Second Test (Cape Town Stadium): Rassie’s manne bounced right back on 29 August to grind out a 33-26 win.
-
Third Test (FNB Stadium): we edged a tight 29-24 thriller to grab a 2-1 series lead.
What to Expect Tonight
We’re sitting at 2-1, but writing off the All Blacks is a rookie error. They’re hurting and desperate to salvage pride on neutral turf.
If you can still keep yourself awake at 23:00, expect absolute sparks to fly and bone-crunching hits. Let’s just hope our boys finish the job and bring that trophy back where it actually belongs.
