Preparations are underway at the Electoral Commission’s (IEC) Eastern Cape Results Operations Centre in KuGompo City as the province prepares for Election Day on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
The centre, located at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in Buffalo City Metro, is serving as a key operational hub for coordinating election activities across the province.
Election personnel, operational teams and key stakeholders have been working together to ensure that the necessary arrangements are in place ahead of voting.
Particular attention has been given to safety and security preparations, with the South African Police Service (SAPS) leading the Safety and Security Cluster alongside other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders.
Security planning, coordination and operational deployments form part of efforts to ensure a safe environment for voters, election officials and everyone involved in the electoral process.
Following two days of special voting, which the Commission has described as having proceeded smoothly, attention is now turning to the final arrangements for Wednesday’s elections.
With operational systems activated and stakeholders working together, preparations are continuing across the Eastern Cape ahead of Election Day.
The Electoral Commission’s priority remains ensuring that the electoral process is conducted in a manner that is free, fair and credible, while safeguarding the integrity of the elections.
