The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has revised its social grant payment dates for November due to a scheduling clash with the upcoming local government elections.

SASSA spokesperson Dr Paseka Letsatsi said the agency approached the National Treasury after election day was declared a public holiday.

Under the revised schedule, older persons’ grants will be paid on 30 October, disability grants on 2 November and children’s grants on 3 November.

The grants were originally scheduled for 3, 4 and 5 November, respectively.

SASSA has urged beneficiaries not to visit its offices unnecessarily, confirming that payments will be processed according to the revised schedule.

Beneficiaries can access their money at retailers and banks using their payment cards once payments have been made.
