Three New Ambulances Allocated to Chris Hani District.
Eastern Cape Health MEC Ntandokazi Capa is handing over 24 new ambulances for immediate deployment across seven health districts, including three allocated to Chris Hani District.
The latest rollout aims to strengthen emergency medical services and improve the province’s ability to respond to medical emergencies, particularly in communities where ambulance services are needed most.
According to the allocation, Alfred Nzo, OR Tambo and Sarah Baartman districts will each receive four ambulances, while Amathole, Buffalo City Metro, Chris Hani and Joe Gqabi will each receive three.
This marks the third deployment of new ambulances since August, bringing the total number distributed across the Eastern Cape to 71.
The Eastern Cape Department of Health is working towards rolling out 195 new ambulances by March 2027 as part of its broader efforts to improve emergency response capacity.
The three additional ambulances allocated to Chris Hani District are intended to strengthen emergency medical services in the district.
However, the department has not specified which towns or healthcare facilities within Chris Hani District will receive the vehicles.
