Rocks slide onto R410 at Nonesi Pass after heavy rains
Road and Rubble Partially Block R410 at Nonesi Pass
Motorists travelling along the R410 at Nonesi Pass are being urged to drive with extreme caution after sections of the road and loose rubble partially blocked part of the roadway.
Reports indicate that heavy rains in the area have caused movement of soil, stones and debris onto the road surface. In some sections, parts of the roadway have been affected, creating hazardous driving conditions.
Authorities responded to the scene and began clearing operations to remove rubble and make the road safer for motorists. However, drivers are warned that conditions may remain unstable, especially as wet weather continues.
Mountain passes and elevated routes such as Nonesi Pass are particularly vulnerable to mudslides, shifting ground and falling debris after sustained rainfall. Additional rubble could still move onto the roadway without warning.
Motorists using the R410 are advised to:
-
Reduce speed significantly when approaching Nonesi Pass
-
Stay alert for loose stones and damaged sections of road
-
Avoid overtaking in affected areas
-
Maintain a safe following distance
-
Exercise extra caution during low visibility or night-time travel
Drivers are encouraged to consider alternative routes where possible and remain patient while authorities continue monitoring and clearing the affected stretch.
