Komani Black Stars End First League Leg With Strong 4-1 Victory

Komani Black Stars ended the first leg of their league campaign on a high note after securing an impressive 4–1 victory in their final match.

The win was an important one for the Komani-based side as they look to improve on last season’s performance and build momentum heading into the second half of the league season.

Slow Start but Strong Finish

According to the team, the match began at a relatively slow tempo as both sides tried to settle into the game. However, Black Stars gradually found their rhythm and began creating chances.

Their breakthrough came in the 18th minute, when Sivenathi Oliphant (Sdira) opened the scoring after being assisted by Cotiyana Khwezi (Lorch).

The home side continued to apply pressure and extended their lead in the 35th minute. Cotiyana Khwezi (Lorch) found the back of the net after receiving a well-placed assist from Thoko, giving Komani Black Stars a comfortable 2–0 lead going into the later stages of the match.

Goals Continue in Second Half

Black Stars maintained their attacking approach after halftime and were rewarded again in the 70th minute when Avuyile Mtya (Shandu) scored the team’s third goal of the match.

The fourth and final goal came in stoppage time, when Sphubuntu Madubedube (Lyzer) sealed the victory with a strike in the 90+ minute, assisted by Rosta.

Unusual Goalkeeping Role

The match also saw an unusual situation for the team, as their regular first-choice goalkeeper Iwuvile Mgijima (Gigs) was unavailable due to personal commitments outside of town.

As a result, top striker Kungawo Ndamane stepped in as goalkeeper for the game. Despite being out of his usual position, the player delivered a solid performance between the posts.

Real Mashaba managed to score their only goal from a penalty kick, denying Ndamane a clean sheet.

Recent Results

The victory follows a mixed run of results for the side in recent fixtures.

Last weekend, Komani Black Stars played to a 2–2 draw against Phoenix Bird FC, who currently sit at the top of the league standings.

They then suffered a 1–0 defeat to WSU Falcons FC, the runners-up in the league.

Focus on the Second Leg

The team will begin the second leg of the league tomorrow, where they are scheduled to face 1860 Munich FC.

The match will kick off at 15:00 at Dumpy Adams sports grounds.

Black Stars say they are determined to improve on last season’s record, where the team lost 11 matches.

This season, the team plans to focus on taking one game at a time as they aim to achieve better results.
