Cofimvaba Municipality Mourns Long-Serving Councillor

The Vuyisile Mini Local Municipality is mourning the sudden passing of PR Councillor and Chairperson of Public Participation, Cllr Mayenzeke Yamile, who died on 13 May 2026.

The Cofimvaba based municipality said Yamile served the community with “esteemed dedication” for more than two decades. He represented both the Vuyisile Mini Local Municipality and the Chris Hani District Municipality during his time in office.

Council described him as an “outstanding leader and servant of the community” who carried out his duties with commitment, integrity and discipline across multiple terms of council.

“He has played a pivotal role in promoting a culture of service within the municipality,” the municipality said in a statement.

The council extended condolences to the Yamile family, colleagues, and the broader Vuyisile Mini community, saying the municipality had lost a committed public servant.

Details of his memorial and funeral service will be communicated in due course.
